Trip to The Country

This past week I was in Ohio visiting family and it was just my luck that the county fair was in town that week. Yeehaw! My family lives in the small town of Ottawa, Ohio where the fair is a BIG deal. My cousin Kylee showed two pigs and a feeder calf during the week. She won her division for one of her pigs! Woo!

Their fair is a lot different than here. I feel like our fair consists of more rides than animals and many Hispanics. The fair I went to is all about showing animals and there's a bunch of rednecks. :-) It was fun! My cousin Jordan and I experienced caramel apples covered in M&Ms. Quite good and highly recommended by us both.

Overall it was a fun trip. Any crazy county fair stories y'all have?

OHIO

Hey suckas!

Well basically I am in Ohio and just thought I'd let you all know I'm alive and not in any tornado or flood. I've been doing a whole lot of nothing, but sometimes that is very good.

I started reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. It is VERY GOOD. It's basically a series of fictional letters written by Screwtape, an experienced demon, to his nephew Wormwood. Screwtape writes advice for Wormwood at how to ruin his "patient's" life and get him as far away from the "Enemy" (God) as possible.

Line Up Ladies!

I was on AOL yesterday and noticed that David cook is sexy and single! Who knew?! Well, as I am taken by a wonderful boyfriend, those still in the hunt read on. People magazine comes out with a Single & Sexy Man list every year. Topping the list are David Cook, Mario Lopez, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, and Hunter Johannson, Scarlett's twin brother.

I will say, the list has gone down hill. I think you know it's getting bad when Britney Spears' brother Bryan shows up, Bret Michaels from Rock of Love, and a mediocre tennis player, James Blake.

Apparently the horse dudes are from Saturday Night Live. I'm not saying these last five or bad choices, I'm just saying...where are the Leo DiCaprio days?

The Encounter Room

IMG_2248

I had the privalege of getting to decorate a very special room within the ministry center of my church, Seneca Creek. I was the "adult leader." Funny, huh.

Basically, me and two other girls decorated this room called "the encounter room." It's a place for spending time with God. We took a lot of the old decorations and created a new flair. We used earth tone colors. We created this paper tree using scrunched up paper. It was really fun!

Chuck Norris Says "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less"

We all know gas prices have been rising and who is happy about that? No one. Well except maybe the Middle East. Anyways, it has come to my attention that Chuck Norris is no fan of rising prices either. People are demanding that Congress take action to drill here and drill now. More than 650,000 Americans have signed the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" petition, including Chuck Norris, and that number keeps growing rapidly each day. In fact, he created a YouTube video to promote the campaign. I'm not really sure why the fact that Chuck Norris supports it is important, but I suppose it is because he could roundkick your face!

Watch this video and be sure to listen for my favorite lines:

"As Glen Vick said on his tv show, they've got their heads up their butts. Well, he said asses, but it's the same thing."

"Oh by the way, I'm Chuck Norris without my beard and I approve this message."

P.S. Let's talk about the fact he does not have a beard?

Nick Patria....how do you feel at the loss of this infamous beard?

Why Do We STILL Not Have Cable?!?!

Due to the second round of thunderstorms on Tuesday, my neighborhood is STILL without cable. However, according to the Pakistani Comcast worker, we have only been without cable since today.

I began thinking, how often does this happen? Not too much, according to Time Warner Cable and maybe this is why: "We consider a cable outage when there are two or more households without cable service in the same vicinity."

Let's break this statement down. So if only my house goes out I do not have a cable outage. Furthermore, what is vicinity? As of now I feel like my vicinity is contained to a circle around my house. And of course, my house is the only house in my circle around my house vicinity without cable. I mean really?! I think it is hysterical that after repeatedly calling the cable company they have decided to admit there is an outage here. Ya thinK!?

QUEST

I recently got involved with my church's high school ministry. I completely felt called to be there and am so excited I pulled through and got involved! On Sunday I went to Quest, the high school service. After that, they had "Freshmen Rush" which is basically a fun event welcoming all the incoming freshmen. I brought my brand spanking new camera and filmed everything. I came up with this lil diddy:

5 People Rescued From Komodo Dragon Island

Five European divers were diving in very dangerous waters near Indonesia. Somehow they ended up stranded in the water for 36 hours and then they washed ashore on an island. This island, called Rinca Island, just happened to be a reserve island for "aggressive monitor lizards, the largest in the world, that often feast in packs and can kill beasts as large as buffalo." They stayed there two nights and had to fight off a Komodo Dragon! AHHHHHHHHH. Here is the whole article.

I would like to point out one particular comment at the bottom of the article:

"If they were from Texas, they would all have come off that island with several pair of lizard boots."

...if they were from Texas...they'd come back with lizard boots....

For real?!? Anyways, a cool article.

Death At A Funeral

Hello friends,

Last night, Anthony and I watched the British movie "Death At A Funeral." Upon reading the back of the DVD I knew I was in for an either really funny or really bad movie. It turned out to be really good! I'll give a little summary.

Basically, it is about a funeral for an older man. I knew the movie was going to be funny when the funeral home people brought the wrong body to the funeral. The main characters, Daniel and Robert, are the dead man's sons. Daniel lives in the shadow of his brother Robert as Robert is a successful author living in NYC. Daniel wrote the eulogy and everyone is expecting Robert to. We also meet a niece of the dead man who is bringing her fiance that no one knows, Simon. On the way there they pick up her brother who is studying to be a pharmacist. He has concocted a drug like acid and put it in a valium bottle. The fiance was nervous about the funeral so his girlfriend gave him a valium, which turned out to be the acid pill. This, as you can only imagine ,brings many laughs througout the movie. He ends up making loud remarks and running around naked. Then there is Uncle Alfie, who is a potty-mouth, old man in a wheel chair. The best part, however, is, of course, the midgit. I will not spoil why the midgit is there. I will only say no one seems to know him and he has something to tell...

Has anyone seen this?!? If not, do it!

Huggies

I thought this commercial for diapers was hysterical and disturbing. I can only imagine being a parent in this situation.

The Pines and Tornados

Due to Matt Berbert's comment "Katie, you need to blog more often" I am making this post.

This past weekend I went to the Pines with my parents, Grandma, and Anthony. You can only imagine the humor of the situation especially when you learn I drove my Grandma both ways. What a wonderful experience.

Saturday we attempted to go golfing, but a freakishly scary thunderstorm boasting possible tornadoes prevented us from going. I was pretty sure I did not want to go once I saw the strange dark clouds above my head while I was at the driving range. Instead, Anthony and I settled for dinner with the fam and watching "Juno," a hilarious movie you should all see. Seriously. Rent it.

Sunday we went to Assateague and I could not believe the enormous swarms of mosquitos...at the beach?! Who knew?! They were horrible! We were able to golf that night and only slightly cheated. Our golfing was followed by another thunderstorm and Mexican food. Yum.

I found this crazy tornado video. My list of things to do before I die includes seeing a tornado with my own eyes. I think they are AWESOME. Yeah, they kill people and destroy homes, but still. They are a magnificent site I would to see!

That is dang cool. Has anyone ever seen one?!?! Please tell me.
